Digg is downsizing staff

Digg laid-off 10 percent of its staff. Kevin Rose (founder of Digg) sent an email to employees explaining the lay-off decision. Rose recently took over the CEO position of Digg after the departure of Jay Adelson one month ago. Rose did mention that Digg is still hiring in the Engineering and Development areas.

Being a big fan of Kevin Rose and Digg i think this was a smart move on his part and this move can only help the company. It feels bad to let staff go but as a manager myself you have to know when and where to make cuts before it is too late. Like they say “It’s nothing personal it’s just business”.

Digg is adapting and since the launch of the Facebook “like” button there is some concern for the future of Digg’s success. I think Digg has some new and great ideas in the works and they need to focus on what is relevant to today’s social crowd. This means cutting back on administrative positions to save money and allocate that money on beefing up the production team.

Note to Kevin: I need a job and would love be a part of the Digg family. I have thousands of ideas, have a Degree in Web design and know some coding. Email me. lol
