Today’s Topics: Nexus One goes bye bye – Amazon eBooks out sale hardcover books

Today’s Topics:

Nexus One

Google pulls the plug on the Nexus One. Sluggish sales of the Android phone have caused Google to pull the phone off the market. Google plans to sell through the last shipment and then there are no more.

You will be able still purchase a Nexus One overseas since the phones will continue to be sold through Vodafone in Europe and some Asian carriers. Read more information on this subject on Google’s Blog.

Amazon’s eBooks are outselling hardcover books. Who would have thought that reading a book on the Kindle would become more popular than traditional reading? (Sarcasm)

In a statement by Amazon: “over the past three months, for every 100 hardcover books has sold, it has sold 143 Kindle books. Over the past month, for every 100 hardcover books has sold, it has sold 180 Kindle books.”

Borders new eBook Store is here

Back in early June, Borders announced they would be launching a new eBook Store. On Wednesday, Borders finally launched their new Borders eBook Store. Borders claims to have 1.5 million electronic book titles to chose from which is more than Amazon and Barnes & Nobel has to offer.

Borders claims that only 5% of their sales were made online. Borders is losing the eBook race and they hope that their new eBook Store will help boost their online sales and put them back in the race. With a larger selection of eBooks to chose from, Borders could make a comeback.

What’s New In Version 1.2.7

iOS 4 Compatibility: tested for compatibility with the most recent version of the iPhone operating system. The Amazon app is also backwards-compatible with earlier OS versions.

My thoughts

Amazon is truly a great company and I use them to purchase all of my books. You can find some great used or new books for some outrageously cheap prices. On, if you look just under the book title and price, you will see the shipping details. Just under the shipping details you will see smaller font prices and numbers such as 25 new from $1.99 and 16 used from $1.00. Take advantage of those links. I bought a “used” book for $1.50 that was shipped fast and it turned out to be brand new. I later saw the same book at another book store for $40.00. I have never had a bad experience with Amazon.

* I was not paid to promote Amazon. I just like to back companies with great customer service and great prices.
